The park is divided into six themed areas: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, and Far Far Away. Plus, there’s a whole new Minion Land set to open in 2024!
With over 20 Singapore Universal Studios attractions, including fan favorites like Battlestar Galactica and Transformers: The Ride, there’s something for everyone—thrill-seekers, solo travelers, and families alike.

Best Time To Visit Universal Studios Singapore
From my experience, the best time to visit Universal Studios Singapore is during the off-peak seasons, usually between March and May or September and November.
These months are less crowded, so you’ll spend less time waiting in lines and more time enjoying the rides at Universal Studios Singapore.
For the best day to visit Universal Studios Singapore, aim for weekdays, especially Tuesday through Thursday. Weekends and public holidays can be super busy, making it harder to get on your favorite attractions.
Also, remember, there’s no snow in Singapore! It’s hot and humid all year long. So, I’d suggest visiting Universal Studios Singapore early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the worst of the heat.
How to Get to Universal Studios Singapore
Before I start sharing all my Universal Studios Singapore tips, let’s cover how to get there.
It’s actually really easy to get to Universal Studios Singapore. Whether you’re on a budget or want a bit more comfort, there are plenty of options. Trust me, it’s super straightforward, and you’ll be enjoying the park in no time!
6 Ways To Get To Universal Studios Singapore
1. MRT and Sentosa Express:
- Take the MRT: Hop on the North-East Line (Purple Line) or Circle Line (Yellow Line) and head to HarbourFront Station.
- Walk to VivoCity: From HarbourFront, follow the signs to Exit E and head to VivoCity Shopping Mall.
- Sentosa Express: Go to Lobby L, Level 3 of VivoCity to catch the Sentosa Express monorail. Purchase a ticket (SGD 4) and ride to Resorts World Station (formerly Waterfront Station). It’s only one stop!
- Walk to the Park: Follow the signs from the station to Universal Studios Singapore. It’s a short and easy walk.
2. Cable Car:
- MRT to HarbourFront Station: Once there, follow signs to the Singapore Cable Car station at HarbourFront Tower
- Enjoy the Views:The cable car ride offers amazing views and is a fun way to get to Universal Studios Singapore, though a bit pricier.
- From Sentosa station:
- Walk: It’s about 20 minutes, but be prepared for the heat.
- Sentosa Express: Walk 6 minutes to Imbiah station, then ride to Resorts World.
- Free Bus: Catch bus A from Imbiah Lookout to Resorts World. It’s air-conditioned and free.
- Cable Car: Take another cable car from Imbiah Lookout to Merlion station, then choose to walk, bus, or take the Sentosa Express.
Pro Tip: For even better views, start from HarbourFront, go up to Mount Faber, and then all the way down to Sentosa.
3. Taxi or Grab:
The easiest way to get to Universal Studios Singapore is by taxi or Grab since Uber isn’t available in Singapore. It usually takes about 10 minutes and costs around 10 USD.
Just tell the driver you’re heading to Resorts World Sentosa, and they’ll drop you off right at the entrance. Take the escalator to Level 1 and walk until you see the Universal Studios Globe.
4. Driving:
If you’re driving, head down Sentosa Gateway, keep left, and follow signs to Resorts World Sentosa Car Park. Park at “B1 East” and follow signs to Level 1.
Parking at Universal Studios Singapore costs SGD 13.10 per day (Mon-Thurs) and SGD 16.30 per day (Fri-Sun and Public Holidays). It’s a convenient way to get to Universal Studios Singapore if you have your own vehicle.
5. Walking:
If you’re up for a walk, head to VivoCity Lobby F, Level 1. From there, it’s about a 20-minute stroll along the Sentosa Boardwalk. Once you reach Sentosa, head towards Malaysia Food Street, keep left, and walk until you spot the iconic Universal Studios Globe.
The walk isn’t too far, and it’s the perfect place to catch the sunset before heading back to your accommodation in Singapore. Walking is a scenic and budget-friendly way to get to Universal Studios Singapore.
6. Bus:
- Option 1: Buses 10, 30, 65, 80, 93, 97, 100, 131, 145, 166, 188, and 855 will take you to VivoCity. From there, take bus RWS 8 to Resorts World Sentosa.
- Option 2: Buses 123, 188R, 963R, or NR1 stop directly at Resorts World Sentosa (stop 14519). The bus fare is just 1 SGD, making it the cheapest way to get to Universal Studios Singapore.
13 Universal Studios Singapore Tips and Tricks
Now that you know how to get to Universal Studios Singapore, let me share my top 13 Universal Studios tips to make your visit even better.
1. Get There Early
As of July 2024, the park is open from 10:00 AM to 7:00/8:00 PM, but always check the official calendar for any changes.
I arrived 30 minutes before opening and got a great photo with the Universal Studios globe, free from crowds. There was even a fun cheering contest, and a lively couple won express passes for the day!
Arriving early lets you jump on the best Universal Studios Singapore rides before the lines get too long.
Keep in mind, although the park officially closes at 8 PM, some rides and restaurants start shutting down around 7:15 PM. They even start ushering people out early, so plan your day accordingly!

2. Buy Your Tickets Online In Advance
While you can buy tickets on the day of your visit, I strongly recommend purchasing them in advance from the official website or third-party sites like Klook or GetYourGuide. Just print your tickets or have them ready on your phone, and you’re all set.
Why Buy Online?
- Save Money: Online tickets are often cheaper than at the gate.
- Skip the Lines: Avoid long waits at the ticket booth.
- Exclusive Deals: Online purchases sometimes include promotions for Universal Studios Singapore like food vouchers or early entry.
Regular tickets cover all attractions at Universal Studios Singapore, except for special events like Halloween Horror Nights. One thing to remember: your ticket doesn’t allow re-entry, so once you leave, you can’t come back in.
Extra Tip: The park offers contactless payment options, so you don’t have to carry cash around, although cash is still accepted if you prefer.
3. Consider Buying The Express Pass (Or Use Single Rider Lines)
The Express Pass costs an extra 50 SGD (about $30), but it can be a lifesaver by letting you skip the long queues. Whether it’s worth it depends on your budget and when you visit.
I went on a Wednesday afternoon and never waited more than 5 minutes, so for me, it wasn’t worth it. But my friend went on a weekend and faced hour-long waits for the popular rides. So, it’s really your call!

- Universal Express Day Pass: One-time use per ride
- Universal Express Unlimited Day Pass: Unlimited use on all rides
If you’re traveling solo or don’t mind splitting up from your group, one of my top Universal Studios Singapore tips is to use the single rider lines. They move much faster than regular lines, letting you enjoy more rides in less time.

4. Pack Light (Or Use The Free Lockers)
When visiting Universal Studios Singapore, comfort is everything. You’ll be walking around all day and dealing with the sun, so go for light, breathable clothes and comfy shoes that won’t give you blisters.
Keep it simple with a small bag that holds just your backpack essentials: sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, some snacks, and a phone charger. Believe me, lugging around a heavy bag will wear you out quickly.
The park has small lockers near most rides where you can store your bags for free for up to 45 minutes. If you need more space, there are larger lockers at the entrance for about 35 SGD each.

5. Be Ready To Get Wet
As I mentioned earlier, Singapore’s weather can be a bit unpredictable. It’s usually hot and humid, but don’t be surprised if it rains at some point during your visit.
Universal Studios tickets are non-refundable since the park stays open rain or shine.
So, pack a small, foldable rain poncho or an umbrella along with your sunscreen and sunglasses. You can buy disposable ponchos in the park, but they’re overpriced and not the best quality.
Many rides, like the Jurassic Park River Rapids, and shows like Waterworld, will get you soaked. I suggest hitting these around midday when you’re about to pass out from the heat and bringing a spare set of clothes for your kids just in case.
There are drying pods available for about 5 SGD, but they weren’t working when I visited, so be prepared for anything!

6. Bring Your Own Food To Universal Studios Singapore
Food at Universal Studios Singapore can be pretty expensive. Think $19 SGD for a hot dog, $10 for popcorn, $17 for a turkey leg, and $7 for a coconut.
Even though bringing your own food isn’t technically allowed, no one checked my bag, so I sneaked in some snacks to keep hunger at bay.
Make sure to bring a refillable water bottle. This is one of my top tips for visiting Universal Studios Singapore. There are plenty of water filling stations around the park, so you can stay hydrated without shelling out 4 SGD for bottled water.
Where to Eat at Universal Studios Singapore
The park has a variety of food options, so you’ll definitely find something you like. I tried the Laksa at the Discovery Food Court, and it was surprisingly good. Plus, the 10 SGD food voucher from Klook was a big help.
Other great spots to eat include Friar’s Good Food, Fossil Fuels, Louis NY Pizza, and Mel’s Drive-In. For something unique, try the monster cookies at Me Want Cookie and a Shrek waffle.
You can also grab a bite outside the park at Malaysian Food Street or the Food Republic in VivoCity before taking the Sentosa Express back to you Singapore capsule hotel.
Bonus Tip: To avoid the lunch rush, try eating before noon or after 2:30 PM.
7. Do Not Miss The Shows and Meets-and-Greets
Don’t just focus on the rides at Universal Studios Singapore—the shows are a must-see too!
Two of my absolute favorites were “Lights, Camera, Action!” by Steven Spielberg and the WaterWorld stunt show. Both were incredibly entertaining and totally worth your time.
If you’re traveling with kids, or even if you’re not, definitely grab some photos with characters like the Minions, Shrek, and Optimus Prime.

Halloween Horror Nights are also getting really popular, and it’s awesome to see more people enjoying it.

One of my top tips for visiting Universal Studios Singapore is to bring a tripod for your phone or camera. Unlike some parks, they allow it, and it’s a lifesaver for solo travelers wanting great shots without relying on selfies or strangers.
Just keep in mind that professional cameras and drones aren’t allowed in the park. Also, you can’t take photos or videos on the rides—but honestly, I’m usually too busy screaming and having a blast to care about filming!
