When I visited earlier this year, I quickly realized there are so many unique things to do in Hurghada Egypt beyond the all-inclusive resorts (though I’ll admit, spending a few days at one of the best hotels in Hurghada was pretty wonderful too).

A trip to Giftun Island is hands down one of the best things to do in Hurghada Egypt. It’s also one of the most unique experiences in Egypt—think soft white sand, shallow lagoons, and Red Sea water so clear it reminded me of the Maldives (but far more affordable).
Orange Bay and Mahmya are the most popular spots, with beach swings, loungers, and some of the best beaches in Hurghada for swimming and snorkeling. If you’re lucky, dolphins might even swim alongside your boat—I nearly squealed when I saw them!

Horseback riding is one of the most unique things to do in Hurghada Egypt and such a fun way to spend a few hours. You’ll ride through the desert, along the beach, and even guide the horses into the Red Sea for a swim.
I joined a sunset ride and would definitely recommend it. The views were gorgeous, and the pace was easygoing, which made it enjoyable even as a beginner. More experienced riders also had plenty of chances to pick up speed and enjoy themselves.
The only thing I’d suggest is booking with a stable that clearly looks after its animals. That way, you can feel good about the experience and focus on enjoying the ride.

In the evenings, the Hurghada Marina is one of the best places to go in Hurghada. The promenade is filled with cafés, seafood restaurants, and rooftop bars, all overlooking the yachts. It’s a great place to grab dinner, sip a drink, or just enjoy the atmosphere.

- Sip amazing coffee – My favorites are Seven Fortunes, Daily Dose, and Ground Coffee. Fornalia, Purple B and Drop Coffee are also excellent picks.
- Eat well – Go for fresh seafood at El Bahr, tacos at Chicha, or Italian at Zia Amelia. For something trendier, try Luma or Pier 88. Other great options include Boho Café, Bongoyo, Mer Bay, and Don Bisho.
Even if you’re not staying overnight (though I’d recommend it if you can), pop into Casa Cook or La Maison Bleue—my personal favorite—for dinner and drinks. Both hotels are stunning and show off the stylish, laid-back side of El Gouna.

I visited in December, and honestly, it was perfect. Daytime temperatures stayed around 22–28°C (72–82°F), the skies were clear, and the Red Sea was warm enough for swimming every day.
If you’re planning a summer trip (June–August), be prepared for extreme heat. Temperatures often soar above 40°C (104°F). The upside is fewer crowds and lower hotel rates, but it’s only comfortable if you plan to spend most of your time in the water.
