While Grab is my go-to (and a favorite for many), there are other Uber alternatives in Singapore that are worth checking out. Here are a few to consider:

Gojek, which started in Indonesia, is a fantastic ride-hailing app now available in Singapore. They offer various ride options like GoCar for your everyday trips, GoCar XL for larger groups, and GoCar Premium for a more luxurious experience.

They even have GoCar Kids with booster seats for young children, which is perfect for families traveling Singapore.

The app is super easy to use and supports payments via card, cash, or DBS PayLah! I love Gojek for its variety, especially when I need a larger vehicle or a bit more comfort.

2. TADA

TADA is another great ride-hailing service in Singapore. What makes TADA unique is its zero-commission policy, meaning drivers keep more of the fare, which can sometimes lead to lower prices for us riders.

They also offer discounts on certain rides, although not as frequently as Grab. The app is straightforward and offers standard ride options, making it a good alternative to Uber in Singapore.

I like TADA because it feels good to know drivers are getting a fairer share, and I often find competitive prices.

3. Ryde

Ryde is a versatile option, offering carpooling, private hires, and even bike rentals. It’s great if you want flexibility and different types of transportation within one app.

Ryde gives you upfront pricing and multiple payment methods, similar to other ride-hailing apps in Singapore.

I don’t use Ryde all the time, but I love that they offer car sharing in Singapore, which is eco-friendly and often cheaper than other transportation in Singapore. Plus, bike rentals are perfect for short trips around the city.

4. CDG ZIG

CDG ZIG is run by ComfortDelGro, one of Singapore’s largest taxi operators. This app allows you to book both taxis and private-hire cars, giving you a range of options. It’s a great choice, especially if you’re already familiar with ComfortDelGro’s taxi services.

If you’re looking for alternatives to Uber in Singapore, you’re in luck! There are plenty of great options to help you get around Singapore. Here are some of my favorites:

1. MRT (Mass Rapid Transit)

The MRT is the best way to get around Singapore. It’s fast, cheap, and covers almost every part of the city.

I love using the MRT because it’s straightforward, with signs in English and frequent trains. Plus, the air-conditioning is a lifesaver in Singapore’s heat!

You can pay directly with your phone or credit card, but an EZ-Link card can be useful if your bank charges high foreign transaction fees. The Singapore Tourist Pass is also an option, but unless you’re using the MRT a lot, it’s usually not worth it.

Bonus Tip: Make sure to tap in and out with your chosen payment method. The first scan logs your entry, and you only get charged when you tap out at your destination.

2. Public Buses in Singapore

Singapore’s buses are also fantastic. They’re clean, reliable, and reach places the MRT doesn’t, like the Singapore Zoo or Gardens by the Bay Light Show.

I recommend getting a Singapore SIM card and using Google Maps to navigate the bus routes since they can be a bit more confusing than the MRT. Just like the MRT, you can use an EZ-Link card or contactless payment.

3. Taxis vs Grab in Singapore

Though I usually prefer Grab, taxis are also a great way to get around Singapore. Unlike in some other Southeast Asian countries, Singapore taxis are metered, so there’s no need to haggle.

You can’t flag them down just anywhere, though. Look for designated taxi stands, taxi stops, or driveways at office buildings and hotels.

Taxis tend to be more expensive than Grab, especially during peak hours or bad weather, but they’re super convenient when you need them.

4. Bicycles

For a more eco-friendly option, consider renting a bicycle in Singapore. Bike-sharing services like Anywheel and SG Bike are great for short distances. 

Singapore has some nice bike paths, especially around parks and waterfront areas. Just keep in mind it’s illegal to ride on the sidewalk, and the weather in Singapore is usually hot and humid, so biking might not always be the best idea.

5. Walking

I love walking in Singapore, especially around Marina Bay and Orchard Road. It’s a fantastic way to find hidden gems in Gardens by the Bay or cheap hawker centers in Singapore.

The city is super walkable with lots of covered walkways to protect you from the sun and rain. Just be sure to carry an umbrella because the weather can change quickly!

6. Boats

Taking a boat is a unique way to experience Singapore. River cruises along the Singapore River offer stunning views of the skyline, and ferries to the Southern Islands are perfect for a fun adventure beyond the city.
